English for Hotel Staff
English for Hotel Staff is a 30-hour intermediate-level course aimed at hotel staff who already have a basic knowledge of English but who need to improve in all areas, though most particularly in the areas of listening and speaking. There are ten units. Each unit covers a particular field of hotel duty.
Unit 1 - Checking-in + hotel rooms Unit 2 - Duties and responsibilities of hotel staff Unit 3 - Language used in the bar Unit 4 - Language of holiday activities Unit 5 - Ordering food 1 Unit 6 - Exchanging information + directions Unit 7 - Language of housekeeping Unit 8 - Ordering food 2 Unit 9 - Help, advice and complaints Unit 10 - Checking out + payment There are 13 parts to each unit: Ex.1. - a listening exercise for general comprehension Ex.2. - a listen and choose the correct response exercise Ex.3. - a topical expressions exercise Ex.4. - pronunciation practice in the topical expressions with video instruction Ex.5. - vocabulary (video instruction + exercise) related to the topic area Ex.6. - a video exercise based on the topic area
Ex.7. - grammar instruction Ex.8. - a grammar exercise Ex.9. - a listening exercise based on a specific aspect of the topic area Ex.10. - a reading exercise Ex.11. - a writing exercise Ex.12. - a language in use exercise where users respond to listening prompts Listening transcripts - All listening texts are available for learners to study
